Acer will increase stake in Make in India, manufacturing capacity will be 30 lakh units


To increase focus on manufacturing, Modi government had started Make in India campaign. It aims to increase investment, innovation, improve skill development and make the country an international manufacturing hub.

Acer, one of the big consumer electronics companies, plans to increase its stake in the Make in India campaign. India is one of the major markets for Acer. The company has announced that it will move forward in the country's tech market through new segments like consumer electronics, AI PC and eMobility.

Acer plans to introduce more eco-friendly technologies in the coming years so that it can meet its commitment of becoming carbon neutral in the stipulated period. To increase focus on manufacturing, Modi government had started Make in India campaign. It aims to increase investment, innovation, improve skill development and make the country an international manufacturing hub. Acer has said that it will tie-up with local Original Design Manufacturers (ODM) for its IT hardware products like desktops, laptops, tablets, servers and workstations.

"There is tremendous potential for innovation and expansion in the country," Acer CEO Jason Chen said in a statement. Recently, the company had told in COP28 held in Dubai that it aims to make laptops equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) through its eco-friendly 'Conscious Technology'. One of these series of laptops is Aspire Vero. The Taiwanese company had said, "Acer promises to achieve carbon neutrality for the Aspire Vero laptop series. This starts with the new Aspire Vero 16."

With the aim of attracting large investments in IT hardware manufacturing, the central government had announced a manufacturing incentive scheme of two billion dollars. The government aims to increase the annual production of electronics to $300 billion by 2026. Big companies selling laptops in the country include Apple, Dell, Lenovo, HP, Acer, Samsung and LG. However, a large number of laptops are imported from countries like China. South Korea's Samsung, which manufactures smartphones and laptops, may launch its Galaxy Book 4 series soon. It will replace the Galaxy Book 3 launched in February this year. This may include Galaxy Book 4 360, Galaxy Book 4 360 Pro, Galaxy Book 4 Pro and Galaxy Book 4 Ultra.
